
A roadway explicitly designed for semi-trucks and trailers opened in southern Indiana.
The Heavy Haul Transportation Corridor (HHTC), which runs between River Ridge Commerce Center and Port of Indiana, is a two-lane route built to handle vehicles weighing up to 134,000 pounds.
Officials claim that the new route is adequate for both cars and large trucks, but that heavy vehicle will find it "more direct" and "safer."
"They don't have to deal with as much day-to-day traffic. It is also safer for visitors from the area.
